Partnership with New Day Drop-In Center
Driving home from a party one evening, Katie’s heart was changed as she observed the brokenness of those in active addiction in Kensington. She soon started to serve in the Salvation Army Drop-In Center for trafficked women, called New Day. The center offers a respite of dignity and respect for women where they can relax, take a shower, and have a meal. For those who are ready, there are case workers, free legal advice, and even a safe house. Katie checks women in and provides an extra set of hands and eyes to the staff. Most weeks, Katie brings clothing and toiletries donated from our generous ministry partners.
Most pressing needs are:
New wash clothes
New underwear, size S and M
New or gently used socks
Seasonal used clothing
Not allowed are:
Razors, floss, or mouthwash
Funds given to our City account will be used to purchase supplies. We are also able to accept supplies at our home or pick them up from you. Please contact Katie (Katie DOT Brindley AT cru DOT org) to learn more! Fridays the Center is not open to the public, though staff are present and they often need help packing hygiene bags (see pic above) and organizing the donations room.
